Why Choose Us?
What is pure tone audiometry?
Pure tone audiometry is the key hearing test used to identify hearing threshold levels of an individual, enabling determination of the degree, type and configuration of a hearing loss and thus providing a basis for diagnosis and management.
What is an audiometry test?
An audiometry exam tests your ability to hear sounds. Sounds vary, based on their loudness (intensity) and the speed of sound wave vibrations (tone). Hearing occurs when sound waves stimulate the nerves of the inner ear. The sound then travels along nerve pathways to the brain.
How do they do a hearing test?
Paediatric hearing tests – It is a test battery comprising OAE, BERA/ABR (Brainstem Evoked
Response Audiometry), BOA (Behavioral Observation Audiometry) and Conditioned
What is considered normal hearing?
40 dB sounds twice as loud as 30 dB and 8 times as loud as 10 dB (10 to 20 to 30 to 40 = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8). Normal hearing ranges from 0 to 20 dB in all frequencies. From here on, the assumption is that you have a sensorineural hearing loss (that you have nerve damage to the inner ear)
